FATHER, SON STRUCK BY OUT-OF-CONTROL TRUCK
According to police investigating the accident, a car ran a red light and struck the back of a pickup truck, which was traveling southbound on Cooper, and caused the pickup truck to veer off the roadway, striking Daniel Bingenehimer and his seven-month-old son and shattering the stroller into pieces. David Bingenehimer was pronounced dead at the scene, and when his mother, who is seven months pregnant, arrived on the scene and saw what had happened, she had to be taken away in an ambulance. “The dad was just screaming and the drivers were screaming,” said a witness to the tragic crash. “[The father] picked the baby up out of the road and brought it over and somebody helped him lay him on the median.” According to witnesses, Daniel, who regularly walked his son in the area where the accident took place, also suffered injuries in the collision, and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
