The driver of the pickup truck involved in the wreck was transported to Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in unknown condition, and the driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. The other five passengers in the SUV were transported to East Texas Medical Center, including one man, who was sitting in the front passenger’s side seat when the accident occurred, and who later died from his injuries.

Authorities have not yet said what caused the Texas car accident, but some believe wet roads and heavy rain may have contributed to the wreck. In the aftermath of deadly collision, the Texas Department of Public Safety urged drivers to slow down, use extra caution and increase following distance when dealing with wet road conditions, especially during periods of heavy rain.
