According to officials, the pursuit leading to the hit-and-run accident began around 8:15 a.m. on April 15, when police saw a minivan run through a stop sign in Highland Park, Texas. The officers pursued the vehicle into a Dallas residential area after discovering that the minivan was stolen, and shortly afterward, the suspects crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of Homer Street and Monticello Avenue, killing 13-year-old Ethan Vasquez instantly and critically injuring his mother, Sandy. The Vasquez’s vehicle spun out of control after being struck by the suspects’ minivan and collided with another vehicle at a stop sign.
