Texas Teen Killed, Another Seriously Injured In Head-on Collision

A 16-year-old girl from North Texas was killed earlier this week in a tragic head-on collision in Denton County, and her passenger suffered critical injuries requiring brain surgery. According to officials, the driver of a pickup truck lost control, crossed the center line and struck the vehicle carrying 16-year-olds Katelyn “Shyann” Hooper and Brianna Christensen, both students at Northwest High School on their way home from track practice. If you have suffered injuries in a serious car accident in Corpus Christi, or elsewhere in Texas, contact our personal injury lawyers at Bandas Law Firm to discuss your legal options. You may have grounds to file a lawsuit against the person or party found at-fault in the accident, in order to pursue financial compensation for your injuries, medical expenses, and pain and suffering.

ICY ROADS BELIEVED TO HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO CRASH

The fatal Texas car accident involving the 16-year-old girls took place around 5:30 p.m. on Monday, on a stretch of Farm-to-Market 156 near Northwest High School in Justin. Hooper, who was driving at the time of the collision, died at the scene, and her passenger, Brianna Christensen, was transported to Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth in critical condition. Christensen underwent brain surgery the day after the accident, in order to relieve swelling inside her skull, and her family says she is resting well now. The driver of the pickup truck, 31-year-old April Seleska, was also seriously injured in the head-on collision. The Department of Public Safety is still investigating the crash, but noted that conditions were not good on the night of the accident and that icy roads may have contributed to the wreck.

Both Hooper and Christensen played varsity basketball at Northwest High, and the two friends were returning home from their first day of track practice when the deadly accident took place. Unfortunately, Hooper’s death isn’t the only tragedy to take place on Texas roads this week. Reports indicate that there have been at least a dozen crashes recently on that same stretch of road where the fatal wreck occurred, and a total of four people have died on N. Texas roadways since Monday afternoon. If you have been injured in a TX car accident, or if you lost a loved one in a fatal wreck in Texas, consult our knowledgeable attorneys at Bandas Law Firm for legal help.
