Actos Lawsuits

Dangerous Drug Lawyers in Corpus Christi, Serving Nueces County Beyond

Actos bladder cancer side effects have raised serious concerns about the safety of the diabetes drug, especially since a recent French epidemiological study linking Actos and bladder cancer led to the diabetes drug being pulled from the market in both France and Germany. If you or a loved one has suffered from bladder cancer or another life-threatening side effect, and you believe Actos to be the cause, contact our Corpus Christi Actos lawsuit attorneys today. You may be entitled to financial compensation for your injuries, medical expenses, loss of income, and pain and suffering, which you can collect by filing an Actos lawsuit against drug firm Takeda Pharmaceuticals.

Actos Uses

Actos has been available in the U.S. since 1999 and is commonly used in combination with diet and exercise to treat Type 2 diabetes in adults. Actos (pioglitazone) is manufactured by Takeda Pharmaceuticals and works by increasing the sensitivity of muscle, fat, and liver cells to insulin. Actos belongs to the same class of drugs as Avandia, a Type 2 diabetes drug that was recalled due to its association with serious cardiovascular risks, including heart attack.

Actos Side Effects

Despite the fact that Actos may be linked to severe side effects similar to those associated with Avandia, the FDA has yet to issue an Actos recall.

As a result, patients who take Actos to treat their Type 2 diabetes may be at risk of suffering from major side effects like:

  • Bladder cancer
  • Heart disease
  • Heart failure

Actos currently carries a “black box” warning alerting consumers about the risk of heart failure in Actos patients. In June 2011, the FDA issued a safety announcement warning patients and healthcare providers about the increased risk of bladder cancer in patients who take Actos for longer than one year.
