Two Killed, One Injured In Deadly Texas Car Accident

Two people were killed in a “domino-effect” car accident involving three vehicles in Sante Fe, Texas on October 19. According to Santa Fe police, a truck was traveling west on Highway 6 around 7 p.m. when it rear-ended a Jeep driving in the same direction. The impact of the collision caused the Jeep’s 65-year-old driver to be ejected from her vehicle, at which point the Jeep continued to roll into the eastbound lane of traffic. The Jeep then collided with a Honda, driven by a 58-year-old man, who was found dead at the scene, along with the driver of the Jeep. Car accidents are one of the leading causes of life-altering injuries and fatalities in Texas and across the country. The 29-year-old driver of the truck that caused the deadly Texas car accidents was transported to the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in critical condition. According to police, the investigation into the cause of the fatal collision is ongoing, but at this point, officials don’t currently believe alcohol or speed played a role in the accident. Most accident statistics show that Texas has higher car accident rates for injuries and fatalities involving alcohol or speeding per capita than the median statistics for the rest of the United States. Sadly, for the U.S. as a whole, fatalities resulting from single- or multiple-vehicle accidents have increased in recent years, which, in addition to causing emotional pain and suffering, has had a significant economic impact on the insurance industry and premiums.
